Navigating allegations of misconduct can be complex and challenging.

Ava, a Nurse Unit Manager and member of the NPAA Queensland branch, experienced this first hand, facing a series of serious allegations.

A complaint alleging bullying was lodged against Ava, prompting an external investigation to address the concerns raised. Ava opted not to participate in the investigation, Instead, she chose to resign from her position before the investigation could reach its conclusion.

Simultaneously, another issue surfaced regarding Ava’s alleged breach of post-employment obligations. It was alleged that she solicited business from her previous workplace to her new employer, raising legal concerns about contractual obligations and professional ethics.

The legal implications of this matter were significant, prompting involvement from a legal firm specialising in employment and contractual disputes. Ava received a formal notification from AHPRA requesting her response to these allegations.

Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, Ava turned to the NPAA for guidance and support. She was assigned a dedicated case manager who provided invaluable assistance in crafting a response to address the allegations effectively. A detailed response was submitted within the stipulated time frame. This proactive approach ensured that her perspective was accurately conveyed, addressing each allegation with clarity and professionalism.

Following the submission of Ava’s response, a formal acknowledgement was received confirming that no regulatory action was deemed necessary. This positive outcome marked the resolution of the allegations, bringing closure to a challenging chapter in Ava’s professional journey.
